I love Shakespeare. The wit, the language, the stories – I just love his plays and quote them frequently. And so I am always on the lookout for good ways to introduce Shakespeare to my children. I actually came across Shakespeare’s Storybook by Patrick Ryan and illustrated by James Mayhew when I was looking for mor James Mayhew books for Charlotte. I knew I had to check it out, so we reserved it at the library. The book contains stories that were likely inspirations for some of Shakespeare’s plays. Each story begins with the history of the story and the play, and how it related to Shakespeare personally. While my kids weren’t as interested in that bit, I was. We all enjoyed the stories, though.
